Thieves Up Your Sleeves!

In before you know.
Gone before the show.
A smile full of tact.
Even when caught in the act.

A friend to the end.
At least until the amend.
Amended when dry.
Caught in the lie.

Truth of lies.
More swagger flies.
Questioning your mind.
Talking out their behind.

Bought and sold.
It's pure gold.
An idiot from above.
A long lost love.

The clever tale of need.
The want to gather greed.
A mix and a match.
One of the batch.

Bottled and sold.
Add up more gold.
A hand to hold.
A growth of mold.

Spreading and covering.
There forever hovering.
Forever then comes due.
Bye bye to you.

On to the next sucker.
Naive little trucker.
Granny all alone.
Just pick up the phone.

Have the want.
The past will haunt.
The truth shall pile.
Not without a smile.

Pile and break.
Lies the double take.
Fiction seeks to meddle.
Truth the back peddle.

Don't you love thieves? And trespassers with a mask but no sleeves? Who needs those guys? But at least they get startled by cries. Or that would be a yapping mutt. Then gone from our hut. Interlopers need to take a hike. Thieves we don't like. What? He has to eat too? What if a she came due? Can't offend. May have to use it to amend. Ever had to deal with a thief? They can sure cause grief. Always your best friend even after they screw you. We'll stick with this guy at our zoo. At least he doesn't try to be nice. Although he may have rabies, woodticks, fleas, and/or lice. Hmmm which is worse? Both make us curse. I think we'll just give all a pass and remain on our own with my little rhyming ass.

Experience spring, have a fling.

  4. Sliding in early, good for me! I've dealt with a few thieves before, but none were as cute as the trash panda.

  5. Thieves just need to be caught, no matter if they are human or not. Been a victim of a few of the human kind; not fun to deal with.

  8. You just have to hope thieves get karma turned on them. We were robbed once and it's scary, infuriating, and makes one feel hopeless.
    Good poem

  9. We've had to deal with a couple of thieves. The first one broke into our car many years ago, and stole some cellophane-wrapped pills from the glove box. Boy, was he ever in for a disappointment... they were antacids!

The second was a gal who was babysitting our three kids. She rifled through our stuff and stole some money. What really got me about that is a neighbor had recommended that gal to me. When I told her about the missing stuff, she acknowledged that the girl had stolen from HER, too. (So why the heck did she recommend her???)

    1. lol I guess they got a whoopsy with that. I saw one guy steal garbage off a truck. It was actual garbage. Thought he had something grand. Whoops.

That was nice of your neighbor. I hope you never took her advice or recommendations ever again.

  10. Yep, we've had to hiss off a thief recently here and it really wasn't much fun!

  11. I have only seen raccoons when I lived in West Virginia for a year. When I lived in California we had possums though. I kinda liked both of them. lol

  13. Someone posted on Facebook a photo of a cleaned up kid's room. The description said "A strange man broke in and cleaned up my place." My question: Is he single? I'd like to mingle. (I just added that second part about mingling, because I can't respond to your post without at least a bit of rhyme.) Happy weekend, Pat Hatt.

    1. lol not a bad thief doing that. Or would they even be a thief? Maybe the rhyme will entice such a man in time.

  15. We have raccoon coming to steal bird seed from the bird feeder. I didn’t mind until he left a huge poop on the deck...!

  16. That's one cute thief sneaking onto the deck! I haven't had much stolen over the years; the funniest time happened in my combo second and third grade classroom. My kiddos were all gathered on the carpet for a read aloud and snack time. I was looking all over my desk for my snack, gave up, and sat down to read to the kids. Part way through the book I looked at the kids, and right in the middle of the first row a boy was eating my snack. I never said a word, just went on reading. It never happened again, and I figured he must have been hungry. Hungry, but brazen ~ LOL A few days later, I started keeping a bowl of small snacks in the classroom in case anyone was hungry. Thank God for Sam's Club! I had quite a run on snacks, but then kids started donating to the snack bowl, so it all worked out well in the end. Have a good one!

    1. haha your snack must have looked too good to pass up. Or the poor kiddo was hungry. Good idea to keep a snack bowl. Although these days you probably wouldn't even be allowed with allergies and all that stuff. Heck, I just learned you can't even pick up another kid here anymore. If I went to pick my kid up and wanted to get the neighbor's kid, nope. Not allowed. Even with a note it would be iffy. We did that all the time way back when. Pathetic how far they go sometimes. I could understand if you were some random creeper with a scary van and no kids, but pffft to the rest. Even though I know liability issue and blah blah blah. End rant.

  17. What a cute thief:) When we lived in the country, our lower level had a window at ground level. One night, the HH was working late on the computer and looked up and a raccoon was looking in the window at him:)

    1. They seem to not fear getting up close and personal as long as the window is there.

  19. I had a substitute eat the Takis out of my prize box for the kids. How do I know this to be true? Because the kids were outraged and told me (those were THERE Takis, you know). And that being said, I don't tink a rocoon would even eat them...takis are ew, icky, yuk, but the kids (and the sub) sure seem to like them. ;)

  21. I've had two rabid raccoons stumbled into my yard over the years. I'm very wary of seeing one in the daytime and they are scary at night. Thieves, indeed.
