Perfectly balanced as can be with a little plug for all to see. What? It's my hut. I balance how I like. But you humans sure make it take a hike. At least a few. Actually, more like a whole lot of you. We won't sugar coat it like those cookies you make. But in them the cat will partake. Baked goods are a win. If you don't put them away, I'll take em for a spin. Now after a little plug on with the show. I have to show some balance, you know.
Balance is key.
Balance is great.
Balance ain't free.
Sorry there, mate.
It's time for work.
It's time to go.
9-5 is such a perk.
Wait...wait...although.
We need you more.
We need you now.
We need's the encore.
Don't have a cow.
So you get home at ten.
So you go back for six.
I control the check pen,
So do it and take your licks.
Kids can be raised by others.
Your spouse can get love elsewhere.
Screw the fathers and mothers,
We only pretend to really care.
You're needed more.
That must make you tingly.
If not, there's the door.
Go be poor and mingly.
But balance was said?
I don't remember that.
You made that up in your head.
Leave the balance to a cat.
Or those yoga fools.
They are all bendy.
You sit and use those work tools.
No need to get trendy.
You want more pay?
For doing what was asked?
A job well done is all I'll say.
Now get back to what was tasked.
Was that a nod?
Great. I'm glad you agree.
Follow every other cod.
I have a golf game at three.
The cat has to roll his eyes as the word balance flies. I think many lost the meaning of it. Or they just have to take the shit. Have to pay the bills. Can't go head for the hills. Maybe there they have goat yoga though. Wouldn't that ruin the flow? Thankfully Pat doesn't bring goats home to do it. It's bad enough watching him do it as we sit. Anyway, back to the fictional balance of it all. Has your work life balance taken a fall? Was it ever even there? Are you just bendy and don't care? On this work stuff the cat is glad he gets a big pass. It all would annoy my ever-so-relaxed little rhyming ass.
If it's balance you seek, you may be up the creek.
balance is as easy as juggling swords. Splat a bandage on a lot.
ReplyDeleteThat is all that happens. Bandaid and nothing more.
DeleteOnly I think find the balance sometimes is hard Pat xo
ReplyDeleteHard it can be
DeleteHow long did it take you to get the cats to sit there long enough for you to take the picture? lol
ReplyDeletelol it took a bit to get a good one. I kinda cheated and used string to get them both near.
DeleteAre these 3 new books of yours? If so congrats on them! Good picture of the cats. Unemployed now so have plenty of time and nothing needs to be balanced except maybe nap times :)
ReplyDeletebetty
They are mine indeed. haha don't want too many or too few naps.
DeleteThe only balance they care about is the profit they make.
ReplyDeleteI need to start that series of yours next.
That is the only thing indeed. Money at the end of the day. Wrapping up another series soon too haha
DeleteYou really should read it Alex, it's a great adventure and reinforces the bond of friendship.
DeleteCongrats on your balance Pat and the Cat. Several of us here have been off balance for years now!
ReplyDeleteJust don't fall, that could be bad
DeleteOld age has its advantages. Once you zoom past retirement age and the kids are all out on their own, it's a piece of cake to strike a balance. (That's because it's much easier to juggle a single ball than a dozen of them!)
ReplyDeleteA dozen can sure be pushing it. I can juggle three though. What? We aren't talking actual balls?
DeleteCongrats on the new books! It's sad when the workplace expects you to be available 24/7 thanks to technology. The only true jobs you can leave the job at work are minimum wage ones.
ReplyDeleteYep, and most, if not all, of those you can't even live off of.
DeleteQuoth the feline,
ReplyDeleteforevermore.
Servants a plenty
DeleteI hit into the side of walls, so balance Is needed. I always strive for this
ReplyDeleteStriving we must do. Those walls can keep one upright.
DeleteAre these new, Pat? The covers rock.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for coming around, even though my visits have been sparse. It's appreciated.
DeleteNope, they've been out for a while. Nothing new in almost a year lol whoops. The cat comes about most days.
DeleteI am sorry, but after that picture, all I can think of is - how in the world did you manage to take that picture?
ReplyDeletelol took a bit to get it, but I did.
DeleteThe covers look great. Balance is tricky. :)
ReplyDeleteThat it can be indeed
DeleteI think I lack balance and that is why I often hit myself into places!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the things are in the wrong places lol
DeleteAm working on it. But I want winter to be out balanced by spring and summer. Take care Pat and thank you always for your visits.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we agree. Let spring and summer win out.
DeleteUghhh this one kills me! When I see my daughter play on a fake computer saying she’s working, my heart aches. But when she excuses herself to take a fake call that’s super important, it breaks!!! It’s a slap of reality in the face. She’s mocking what she sees. We need to tell our employers to shove it! I had to read to read this twice because I couldn’t believe there was no mention of poo, but then I saw it! “...just have to take the shit”. And there it is :)
ReplyDeleteYep, she is mocking what she sees and it's pretty sad when they know that is what they have to look forward too. Telling some to shove it would be sooo nice, but then you'd have to live in a cardboard box, so there's that. Geez, you say I'm obsessed, you going looking for what's not there lol
DeleteHow sturdy is this cardboard box? How many rooms does it have? It may be an option for me.
Delete...it was there!! I see it!! "...Just have to take the shit". There it is in black and white.
May only have one room with the sturdiness of a loose poop. There you go, used it right that way. Just for you.
DeleteBalance can be a difficult thing to do in life. I guess, I just try the best I can.
ReplyDeletePS - I love this series of yours. I own each one. It is nestled in my treasure chest of
stuff from the journey of life.
PSS - I love that photo...
DeleteJust try the best indeed. Took a few rounds to get the photo, but I got it haha go dental floss.
DeleteBalance, what is that? I never found the right balance for my life. I just wake up each day and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteAt least you keep on keeping on.
DeleteHey Pat! Awesome. This may be the stanza of the year!
ReplyDeleteKids can be raised by others.
Your spouse can get love elsewhere.
Screw the fathers and mothers,
We only pretend to really care.
Yup. You got to the truth here!
Missed you at WEP! Hope your work/life balance is balancing out!
Pretend they do. Balance shall come when the work week is through.
DeleteYour cats have the most perfect looks
ReplyDeleteto balance out Mr. Hatt's Blizzard books
and spouses, yep, they can cheat where they roam
cuz they ain't getting any at home.
They got the book ends beat
DeleteAnd yeah, spouses shall run when in heat
Well said on the work-a-day world.
ReplyDeleteYOU have a great one.
Work-a-day world it sure be
DeleteI am impressed with the photography and with your prolific writing. Balance - what's that? Everything seems so out of kilter.
ReplyDeleteGood to impress. Took a bit to get that shot. Yeah, out of kilter it sure is.
DeleteI gave up on balance many moons ago,
ReplyDeleteBut now with medical being the name of the show,
I’ve lucked into bosses grand.
They pick me up each time I hard land.
That sure is great
DeleteHaving bosses that aren't second rate
I enjoyed my years of teaching. I enjoy my years of retirement just as much. They're both exciting. Your books look interesting. I need to read more. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBoth exciting sure is a win indeed.
DeleteI so enjoyed your first Max Blizzard book, Pat! I can't even read as fast as you write!
ReplyDeleteBalance has eluded me all of my life. I thought things would be better in retirement, but I'm the same old Louise. I'm a binger, have always been a binger. Right now I'm binging on catching up on blog posts. (You're such a good blogging buddy to visit me consistently, even when I get so behind.)
But I'm a little kinder to myself now, having realized in my early 60s that I was ADHD ~ no news to those who knew me well. This is one of the great ironies of my life, because for years I worked with ADHD kids never grasping that many of the interventions I made in my classroom were as much for me as for them. I laugh every time I think of it.
And I'm as optimistic as a dog under a table when people are dining. I always think balance is going to fall into my life like a goodie dropped from a table. Brand new year, brand new chance to find balance. I'm such a dog chasing my tail. I admire cats, but I'll never be one.
haha yeah, you only have about 25 more to read or so lol
DeleteWell at least now you know. Kinda funny that you never realized that you were helping yourself as well as them.
I think I'm more the cat in most situations, while the dog in maybe a few while the cat seeps in a bit lol
