Everyone has a favorite genre or genres to write. But what about your reading preferences? Do you read widely or only within the genre(s) you create stories for? What motivates your reading choice?
Maybe I'll flow.
Maybe I won't.
What do I know.
Could do or don't.
This way I'll write.
That way I'll rhyme.
What comes into sight,
May just be suck a lime.
Or maybe a lemon,
Just to get you going.
Like a little demon.
Eye rhymes a showing.
I could read a short.
I could read a long.
I could read and report.
I could read and report.
I could come on strong.
Especially the preachy.
They get an eyeroll.
Most though is peachy.
Forgoing smut for a stroll.
Does that answer it?
Are you confused?
Read what I writ?
Grammar abused.
But I'll write it out.
What the heck.
No need for a drought.
Something always on deck.
Read what I write.
Write what I read.
Try a new light.
Always changing indeed.
So that is that.
Or maybe that's this.
A rhyme from the cat.
Beats a cough cough hiss.
At least for some.
Others maybe not.
Way of my rhyming bum.
Now on to the next plot.
Enjoy life forget the strife.
Nice to see the cat rhyming again.
ReplyDeleteYou do write in a variety of genres, which is good.
Cat can rhyme any old time. Yep. Here, there, and everywhere
Deleteenjoy life forget the strife
ReplyDeleterhyme a bit

Keep writing....anything....just enjoy
Just watch the edit bit
DeleteFor a knife can hurt like umm spit
I like to read in lots of different genres. I used to think of myself as only a MG and YA writer, but I think I might want to try writing in a different genre or a mash-up of two genres one of these days.
ReplyDeleteGiving the mashup a go is fun indeed
DeleteNice job rhyming! I pretty much read what I want, too. But I prefer historical fiction.
ReplyDeleteWhat you want to is the way to be
DeleteI certainly don't want preachy.
ReplyDeleteGet that enough everywhere online
DeleteI'll hire the cat when I start my rhyming book. Hope I can afford the salary.
ReplyDeletelol he's kinda a glory hog and may not come cheap
DeleteWe did rhyme just yesterday as we were Seussing around!
ReplyDeleteRhyming away works any old day
DeleteMy favorite is a good old fashioned novel, either classic or modern, it I also enjoy some non-fiction. My least favorites are murder/mysteries, true crime, and sci-fi and horror.
ReplyDeleteHorror I find very meh a lot of the time at best.
DeleteTime For The Motivation
ReplyDeleteRhyming again for inspiration
It is refreshing
Very inspiring
Another you again in motion

A rhyme came due
DeleteThrough and through
I'm with you, Pat! Variety in reading and writing. And I love that you like to break the rules. Be careful out in those woods at work ~ LOL!
ReplyDeleteBreak the rules we do. lol I'm good til about next Thursday. Then i go waaaaaaaaaay back in the crummy woods. blah. Stupid seasonals lol
DeleteThat's a very...catty...response ;)
ReplyDeletehahahahaha
haha had to do it
DeleteI read a bit of this and that
ReplyDeleteNothing like my cat.
He stares at my books
While I give angry looks.
I’m the one who likes to read
He just claws, watching me bleed.
haha seems the way
DeleteOn any given day
I don't really write, so I'm not sure if I can answer this question. I do have my "favorite" genre, but I do venture out of of it. My favorite genre is historical fiction, but I do get bored of it and look for a change from time to time. If I read what I wrote I guess that would be like a Cosmo magazine or Glamour? So then, yes. :)
ReplyDeletelmao well at least you know. And you? Bored? Never would have guessed.
Delete"Grammar abused" -
ReplyDeletebest way to keep 'em amused.
Keep em going
DeleteWith a showing
Grab a hammer.
DeleteAbuse that grammar.
Or a stamp
DeleteOut like a lamp
I like t read paranormal romance the most.
ReplyDeleteThat I think I could have guessed
DeleteI read a variety of things. Fiction, mystery, YA, biographies, cookbooks, maybe a little romance in the summer if I need a beach read. I don't really read a lot of science fiction, war books, or anything involving politics.
ReplyDeletePolitics is good to avoid. Enough of that crap on everything!
DeleteSuch a fun rhyme poem. Thanks to the cat from me. I totally agree with your thoughts. Read what you like, write what you like and most of all be yourself, whatever taunts or sniggers come your way. Happy spring writing.
ReplyDeleteThat is the best way. Be yourself and keep on a going.
DeleteI read whatever I feel like at the moment. Non fiction is my most favoritist (I do know that's not a real word). Honestly though, I haven't read much lately outside of kids' essays. ;) I'd love to curl up with a good book for Spring Break. We shall see if it can happen.
ReplyDeleteHave to see if it does. Are the essays at least entertaining? lol
DeleteSometimes from my advanced class, but usually...nuh uh. ;)
Deletelol well at least there are a few
DeleteWhat an amazing pet you have! Love your last line.
ReplyDeleteAway we go with the flow
DeleteI like to read lots of different genres, but I'm finding that lots of people limit themselves.
ReplyDeleteYeah, many surely do indeed.
DeleteThe Cat's on a roll
ReplyDeleteGreat it is
As he's dong his rolling bizzz
Hope you're doing ok
At your kitty cat bay
Okay is relative as can be
DeleteBut still above ground at our sea
I know I am a day early but, I wanted to be sure to wish
ReplyDeleteyou a Happy Birthday!
Thanks indeed!
DeleteI never know what genre my brain will wake up in. :-D
ReplyDeletehaha a fun way to be
DeleteWait, where have you been? I thought I was the only one taking a blogging break. Are you copying me? Typical cat.
ReplyDeleteBreak would imply it was supposed to be. I'm more in a idgas phase lol copy that?
DeleteI read a variety of things but I don't think I could even write in one genre and have it be entertaining. If I had to be a writer, I'd want to write text books or something like that... real engaging, I know. I definitely see where there is room for improvement though. The material that is out there now rarely interests the kids.
ReplyDeleteWell that is good. Can be big money to be made with them too. Go for it.
DeleteHappy Easter/Spring - Is it time for a fling? lol...I just had to...hope you are well?
ReplyDeleteHope a great easter was had at your pad
