Thursday Thoughts Round 2

This whole letting Cass post there and here is actually nice for my rhyming rear.

"Like you let me do anything. Get a grip."

Come on now. Get up from your nap and wow.

"I can do that with one eye open. Just sit and watch."

Works for me. I get a break at my sea. And I don't have to share with Pat. Much rather share with a cat.

Now let's see what is around this week after a little plug. Oh, here's one:

Ding...Deposit...Ding

Did you hear that? Some human that just decided to follow your Farcebook, Tweeddle Dee, or Instaneedy feed just got a deposit from their oh so great work from home job. They even have the evidence to prove it. They will even share their secret knowledge with you. For the low low price of $59.99 you will be making 5 figures every month from home.

How are these things still even a thing? Do humans ever really stop being fools? The only humans getting rich from them are those at the top as they sucker all below them. Yeah, you can sell all kinds of things and get a percentage, but if you need to pay to learn some uber secret, then the secret likely is you're a sucker. Sorry, humans, but this cat doesn't pull her punches.

What? You didn't mention we had a bridge to sell? Low low price and comes with a love spell.

"I figured I'd leave something for you to do."

Here's one that I overheard.

Be The Expert

Don't go to a professional who has knowledge of what you need. Nah, that's so 2019. These days you should do everything yourself because it saves you money. The best way to learn is through doing after all. And how do you become an expert? Easy. Just Google it. Some expert somewhere will be expertly sharing with you how to do what you want ever so expertly.

Take out an appendix? No big deal. Get a knife.
Invest in that latest dope company. Go for it. It'll be a huge hit.
Buy a house through private sale without covering your ass. Enjoy. That hole where the stairs used to be gives it character.

With one simple search you become the expert. That is all it takes. And remember that everything you read on the internet is true, so there is no way anything will come back to bit you on the ass. Except maybe that bed bug infested house you just bought.

Thinking of those just makes me itchy. Having them would make all bitchy.

"Can't disagree with your rhyming ass there."

Local

Seems you can't cross the street these days without someone shouting about local this and local that. Local gets shouted more than what rhymes with duck in NY traffic. Then the whole "support" gets added to it. Support Local gets said and suddenly there is a line up of humans ready to suck at the local tit. Cows may want to stay out of sight in farm areas. Just fair warning.

You want me to shop at your store where you jack up the prices because you are "local" and we should all "support" you, yet you go to stores outside of our "local" area to get what you want and to order your stock. I think a word is missing to your oh so great chant. What was it? Oh, I got it. Support Local Hypocrites. There. That has a much better ring to it. Now you know you're getting screwed beforehand.

At least make it specialty items or something original. If I want to support local it will be because local deserves it. Not because you can chant what all the other nuts chant while jacking up products that one can get elsewhere for half your selling price. I could slap $20 on what I leave in the litterbox, doesn't mean it's worth anymore than $0 though.

I think you may have brought some humans to the brink.

"As long as no one local has an issue, we'll be fine. If there is one, I'll send them your way though."

That is fine. As they can then suck on the gas of this feline. And now to take it out with a final shout.

Have you ever bought into a pyramid scheme? Did your bank account go ding ding ding by being on their team? Are you an expert on anything thanks to Google and such? Will people come to you to get in touch? Do you shop local at your sea? Are you disgusted by some of the prices like we? Even with gas it is still cheaper to go elsewhere. But shop local and don't care. That is the best way to support. So ends this report. Now listen to the words of Cass and the few bits from my little rhyming ass.

The Blind Leading The Blind = Mankind.

  1. If only local was as cheap as the Internet.
I'll admit, I've learned how to do certain repairs around the house by watching You Tube videos.
Instaneedy? You need to start a social platform called that. It would be worth a million bucks!

    1. Yep, if only they were as cheap as the internet. Many things one can do from Youtube, many things one can't. haha Instaneedy could be the next hit, huh?

  2. Your 'negative' comments on local may be the first I've come across. There's always a big promotion here the Saturday after Thanksgiving to 'Shop Local.' I call it 'Expensive Arts and Crafts Day.'

  5. The past (2) years I purchased our Christmas tree from a local nursery because it's the supposed "right" thing to do. I mean, clearly we must support our local businesses (my dad has a local business of a dry cleaners so it's a soft spot for me). Well, two years in a row they sold me a dead tree for DOUBLE THE PRICE!! I will never again do this. Costco it is next year. Their trees are double the size, half the price, and healthy! I'm all for supporting local businesses, but we need to do our research first. Not all local businesses deserve to thrive. The pyramid scheme is one thing I'd never get sucked into, but I have a story for that too. My husband purchased a life insurance policy from a friend who got sucked into a scheme. We now pay $67 A MONTH for a $100K policy for a healthy 29 year old man. Insanity!! We have to pay for at least another year or all the money he invested goes into the garbage. Hmph

    1. haha still upset about the dead tree? Yeah, screw going there again after getting done over twice. Research first indeed, as some are just out to get you and sucker you into something they spent $5 and charge you $10.

Ugg to life insurance. But then living with you, a healthy 29 year old man may need it hahahaha what? had to.

    2. I will be upset about that tree for years to come. I'll never again purchase from a local nursery. Oh wait, I've already said that 500x. lol As far as the local ice cream shop, pizzeria, or dry cleaners.. I'm all about that over Friendlies or Dominoes. Ewwww, whoever purchases pizza from a chain place has never had real pizza. Just saying.. lol

I bring nothing but joy to his life!

    3. Yeah, a lot of the time they beat the big chains indeed.

      lol nothing but joy, huh?

  7. I've never bought into a pyramid scheme but my brother did when he was younger. It was one of those mail ones where you send $1 to 10 people and then mail out the pyramid scheme with your name at the top to 100 people and they will all send you $1. But he never got a dollar.

  10. I'm in expert in nothing but self experience and I'm still a work in progress. Does that count? I've yet fallen for a pyramid scheme but I'll be damned if I didn't miss out on a great deal when it was still hot: Paparazzi. My neighbor tried to get me in at the beginning and she's making a ton of money. Always going on vacations and on retreats. Meanwhile, I thought it was a bunch of BS. Boy was I wrong!

  12. I try to eat local, LOL, as in "mom and pop" restaurants over the chains. Most of the time the food is really good and the prices very reasonable! So many schemes out there to get rich. I shy away from any that I have to invest it to get their "proven" secrets. Most (if not all) are definitely scams!!

    1. Yeah, the restaurants aren't as bad, maybe a few hippie dippie ones. But most of the time as you say they are good. Yep, if they want money upfront, they are a scam.

  13. No one supports local. Hardly anyone I know in my town has purchased any DLP books.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I try to support local if it is something I can use or need as long as the price is the going rate. My favorite item to buy is local produce when in season.

Cassie looks so pretty sleeping on the couch. She must be tired from this Thursday Thoughts post. She deserves a treat.

    1. Produce usually is a good one to buy, as they don't jack that up too much.

  16. There is a lot of shopping and eating out locally here by my roomy, but this is not a small town like I lived in Texas either it is a surbania to bigger Orlando. This is tourist state so there is that too. Great advice.

  17. Have looked up many tutorials, and have regretted only a couple. Love the Farmer’s Market. Yes, you should start an Instaneedy! Only you could pull that off! But about those high-priced local crafters... I could write volumes defending that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Instaneedy I could pull off, huh?

Oh, I know you could. It's more the same stuff you can get at Walmart for half the price that makes me roll my eyes.

  18. I would shop local if they weren't twice the price of the other stores.

  19. I guess I'm a bit of a cooking fool, so I prefer fresh veggies, fruit, eggs and meats sourced from local farms whenever they're available... but if what I want to cook isn't available from a local source, oh well. Then I buy the best I can find. We've gotta eat!

Closest thing to a pyramid scheme I ever got into was with Amway. Some friends gave us such a great pitch on it, I agreed to sign on. While it's a legitimate endeavor and some people make lots of money doing it, I wasn't a good fit. At all. I wasn't about to go door-to-door hawking the stuff, and I didn't want to bother any of my friends by giving them a pitch. So I sold a few things to my father. The end. HA

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Food is a different story, sometimes, as long as it is local and not just bought at the grocery store with local slapped on it and then they jack up the price.

Yeah, hawking that stuff wouldn't be fun. At least your father took pity and bought a few things lol

  22. We do save a lot of money buy going to YouTube to fix things before we call a professional. I do like to shop local if I need something unique. I used to think the Farmer's Market we have locally sold from our area farmers only to learn last summer that they actually import the fruits and veggies from other states/countries. The exact same ones that the grocers sell, only they charge more because it's supposedly "local" grown. Pft.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep. That is how they get you and make more money. Order from the same spot and sell for higher price under the guise of local. Pffft indeed.

  23. You just have to be careful. Check local first but be ready to go elsewhere if their prices are unreasonable. What do I know?
