Would this be the start of the post or the middle of the posting on my blog or the start of the middle? If we dropped dead tomorrow or the internet went kaput, would it be the start of the end? Would you say yes, no, or maybe so? Would me answering for you by giving you only a few options make you stick to them or go with another just to stick it to me...or maybe stop my run-on questions? I better get to it before I run out of questions. Pffft do you believe that will ever happen? If you do, there is a bridge nearby that I can sell you for dirt cheap. Does that saying still work? Dirt doesn't seem to be cheap anymore. Unless you steal it from the giant litter box then maybe it is. Back to it before that dirty look you are giving me turns to dirty words. How'd we get on dirt again?
What started you on your writing journey? Was it a particular book, movie, story, or series? Was it a teacher/coach/spouse/friend/parent? Did you just "know" suddenly you wanted to write?
Is that all I can answer? Wouldn't that defy the question if you want to know if it was one of those? Are you trying to pigeon hole me? Did you think I would take it like that? What? Okay, I'll play.
Book - NOPE
Movie - NOPE
Story - NOPE
Series - NOPE(Couldn't the above three apply to this?)
Teacher - NOPE
Coach - NOPE
Spouse - What is this foreign word?
Friend - NOPE
Parent - NOPE
Suddenly...umm...if it was sudden would you really know? Wouldn't you have to know before hand for you to actually know? Does sudden and know work together? Suddenly I may end up getting those dirty words thrown my way again. But why did you eat mud? Does that make the words dirty? If words aren't physical can they be dirty? Right! On with it. I'll go back to the start.
What started you on your writing journey?
All because I started a blog pretending to be a rhyming cat. Now why wasn't that one of your next questions? I could have said yes then. Now that we have that cleared up, are you going to suddenly change the question? If you think of changing it before changing it would that still count as suddenly? Suddenly I've reached the end of the start or the middle or just hey diddle diddle.
Are you writing away? Did I ask too many questions? Are you into dirt? What started you on the writing and/or the dirt loving? See where things can go if I start to write away? Still got that bridge. Dirt cheap. Your dirt fetish will love it. Just saying...or typing. Kinda...sorta...maybe...the same thing. Not really. Really not really. Now I'm really done.
Enjoy life, forget the strife.
The blog before the writing - I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteYou need to learn that foreign word one day. Well worth it.
The blog just came and then I was egged on to write a book and so I did. I need to learn it? Hmmm if it didn't come with crazy...maybe
DeleteReally? I had no idea!
ReplyDeleteI started blogging after a few unfortunate incidents on an online forum. A few of us left and started blogs and the rest is history.
The cat sure came first. Sure lasted after the forum incidents indeed. Just you left?
DeleteI found you through your rhyming cat. Didn't know that was the start of your career. Go, cat!
ReplyDeleteThe rhyming cat sure led the way.
DeleteSo the cat started writing first? Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat he did indeed
Deletethe cat channeled you. Hey it worked. Look at you now - taking all the credit.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff!
May as well take the credit while I scoop his crap lol
DeleteI'm going to get my cats writing very soon. They are pretty lazy but so cute. I wonder if they can edit...
ReplyDeleteThey may skimp on the editing
DeleteThe Story of Nope sounds like it could be a hit!
ReplyDeleteNope could be a winner indeed
DeleteCats like center stage. You either let them OR pay. My cats were not writers. :)
ReplyDeleteThat you surely do
DeleteWell a rhyming cat is a good way to start writing! Anything is believable this day and age!! Glad you did start writing and then continued to write!
ReplyDeletebetty
The cat sure was the way. And continue we shall do too.
DeleteThat's neat to know. The blog first then the books.
ReplyDeleteBlog sure came first indeed
DeleteI got a bit confused by your questions lol.
ReplyDeletelol there were just sooo many
DeleteThank goodness for Orlin! What reading adventures I would have missed without him!
ReplyDeleteOrlin sure brought them on
DeleteAwesome that your blog was the start of your writing.
ReplyDeleteMorphed into it with a cat
DeleteWhat made you start your rhyming blog? I know that you had a goal of a year, but I don't we ever discussed what triggered you to start that idea!
ReplyDeleteDirt is NOT cheap! We needed dirt when we moved into the house. After shopping around, we had to pay a few hundred dollars to have a pile of dirt dumped onto the driveway. Psh, and they didn't even come back to clean up the mess it left behind. Unreal!!
I had to get backlinks for a past site, and Orlin was foolish as a kitten(still is), and I figured I could rhyme a bit, so mashed the three(really bad mashed crap at first) and then it progressed away to what it is today.
DeleteYep. Dirt costs a ton. Just friggin dirt. $600 one guy paid here for dirt. Pfffft.
What happened to the site you were trying to create? You had way to much fun pretending to be a rhyming cat! I love how you nonchalantly say "I figured I could rhyme a bit" like cat & rhyme are two things that normally go together. lol!
DeleteThat went by the wayside, was too late to the game. If I was born 10 years earlier it may have worked. Hey, rhyme and cat. Dr. Seuss thought of that.
DeleteWell, that's how Julie started. Julie of the Julie & Julia book/movie fame. Maybe movies will be in your future?
ReplyDeleteThat would be grand. Then I could quit the 9-5.
DeleteI would be creeped out if Amy Adams played you though.
DeleteMay sell more tickets that way
DeleteI guess I came across you blogging somewhere in the middle. I'm so glad I did, it's been an amazing journey. It was fun as we gave rhyming a run but, more important is the friendship we formed.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in the middle indeed. Been a fun ride all the way.
DeleteAs per usual, you come up with the most unique answers. Except what inspired you to pretend to be a rhyming cat? ????
ReplyDeleteJust sort of came about as I looked at the cat and his antics at the time
Delete
ReplyDeleteMy cats have never shown an interest in writing. I bet they'd have great stories to tell, though. I may ask them.
Have to ask and see
DeleteLong about the 5th nope I started getting really curious about why you chose to be a writer. Heh.
ReplyDeletehaha lots of nopes sure came
DeleteI'll take one bridge and a little dirt thrown in too... ;)
ReplyDeleteComing your way for the low low price of $50,098
DeleteHow short-sighted! This month's IWSG question should've included a pretending to be a poetic cat option. Surely, you aren't the only one.
ReplyDeleteUm, just kidding. You're definitely one of a kind. And that's a good thing. I didn't realize your book-writing career was inspired by your blogging. Very cool!
Yeah, should have had that in there. How rude haha
DeleteBlogging came about first indeed.
Well, now you've ruined it. I really did believe you were a rhyming cat. That's the only reason I kept coming her, for heaven sakes.
ReplyDeleteDamn. I knew I should have posed as a dog when answering, then no one would have believed me and the rhyming cat would have stayed.
DeleteThe cat tries to steal the show
ReplyDeletebut we know what goes on down below
Pat does all the writing
and his work is so exciting
a book a week over at his land
he's got to worth over a 100 grand!
Elsie
The cat may steal
DeleteBut that's the deal
At least the one I made
Pffft if he had a 100 grand the cat would get paid
The cat tries to steal the show
ReplyDeletebut we know what goes on down below
Pat does all the writing

Elsie
Times two
DeleteLook at you
At The Start Or In The Middle Or In The Start Of The Middle
ReplyDeleteThe Cat or the blog at the beginning or middle and all so real
It sure turned out right
Encouraging one to write
All too well and now churning out books very easily, people!
Hank
Turned out swell
DeleteAs the cat and Pat have tales to tell
The blog was first, how good it inspired so much. Life is full of questions, sometimes ones we can't even begin to answer!
ReplyDeleteYeah, some questions we just have to answer the best we can and continue on.
DeleteYou have the cat to thank. I have my kids. As far as the foreign word goes, I wouldn't bother adding it to your vocabulary. Nothing but trouble!
ReplyDeleteGoes to show the kiddos and cats are wins indeed. I don't think that foreign word has any hope here, so we're good lol
DeleteSo if you had the urge to write a blog before you became a published author, was it because you already had a love for writing? Wouldn't that make you a writer before a blogger, even if only at heart? Am I going around in circles too?
ReplyDeletehaha round and round you go. You may be right though.
DeleteIf given the option I'll take the start. The middle....ack.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the middle? Hey, diddle diddle.
DeleteWell that got you going and going and going. Hope it will be a productive year of writing for you Pat. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThat it surely did. We shall see what comes to be.
DeleteThere were a lot of options. Good thing you addressed them all.
ReplyDeleteGot em all indeed
DeleteThe Rhyming Cat came first... It is all the muse's fault. Sound great to me. I am late making the rounds. Happy IWSG!
ReplyDeleteThe muse had to be let loose, even as a rhyming cat.
DeleteI, too, find it very interesting you stumbled onto writing via blogging. Certainly turned out well for you! Did you ever in your wildest dreams think you would be able to publish so many books?!?
ReplyDeleteMy dad was working on the Channel 9 antenna when it was hit by lightning. The lightning conducted through his body and sent him to the ground. He was laid up for quite a while with a broken back. I was four years old. I would "write" a story to "read" to him every night. (I scribbled lines on a Big Chief Tablet and made up stories as I went when I pretended to read to him.) That's what started my love of writing. I must have had some positive feedback, because I've wanted to be a writer and a photographer and an artist as long as I can remember. Poetry started in high school when I didn't like some lines of some popular songs. I rewrote them. Been rhyming ever since! (Except now...)
Nope. Never thought I'd get that many books out, but here we are.
DeleteOuch! Never knew lightning could break a back. That is great what you did though. haha I'd sure like to change some lines to songs too. Rhyme away, works any old day.
I can't remember when I found you. Maybe a few years after you started? I've been at blogging 10 years, though I am by no means a writer. It's amazing what other things can come about from it. I never would have discovered a passion for photography had I not started a blog. I never would have met such amazing people from all over the world. I never would have worked with major brands either. Some days I think I'm about to hit my 10 year mark and that's when I always said I'd walk away from the blog. It's something that I've been considering a lot lately as there are other passions now I want to pursue. Or just leave it as a minor pet project to work on here and there.
ReplyDeleteI think it's cool that you took your blog and found a way to market books to the masses. You've done an amazing job all because you decided to jump into the blog world!
Yeah, what started as more of a joke, kinda spiraled out. Not quite sure when we jumped on the bandwagon, but I think it was a few years in. Gonna give the blogging a heave ho? Geez, can't do that. The cat needs someone to poke fun at. I find it is better if you just do what you want with it and explore the other passions. What you going for next? Youtube videos? lol
DeleteAll because I jumped in indeed. Sure lots of things occurred.
You can still poke fun at that other place :P I'm on Facebook too, though I rarely post there.
DeleteHell no to the videos. I am strongly considering opening an Etsy shop and will focus my time and energy to my crafting (something I've let go of for the past few years). I may hit up the craft fairs and local farmer's markets to sell wares, too. I am seriously considering dropping a shit ton of money on a 3D laser printer, as soon as I get over my fear of failure and ending up with an expensive machine I wasted money on. Self doubt is a real bitch, ya know? Right now I am just thinking out loud, but every day that goes by, I am itching more and more to just making the leap. We're headed out to California this Saturday, so I'll have a week of driving up the coast to clear my mind and hammer out the pros and cons. I think I'll know what direction I'm headed in by the end of the month, hopefully.
And, I'm glad you made the jump. You're one of the cool people I'm happy that I've met on this blogging journey :)
Yeah, facebook I tend to avoid. Seems to be the one place where people whine the most.
DeleteWell it would be a good idea to keep the blog and use it to nudge the etsy shop too every now and again. Doesn't have to be blatant advertising, just a nudge here and there. I have looked into 3d laser printers, think they are cool, but not sure what I'd do with one, so left that alone haha would sure help create though. Could do all kinds of things with it. Yeah, self doubt is a pain in the ass.
Cool? I thought only the cats and poop machines thought that of me, hell, not even the cats lol
Good lord, I bit the bullet and bought it today. Pray for me! (One atheist can pray for another, no?) LOL. I will probably use the blog to encourage sales once I figure out my niche and what I really want to sell. I've got a million ideas floating in my head, but I definitely need to narrow it down to a few manageable projects and see what happens.
DeleteOnly the dogs think I'm cool here. At least you got humans on your side, even though they are little poop machines.
lol sure, I can pretend to pray...may work. Be interesting to see how it goes. You'll have to do a post of it in action. Maybe you'll spur the cat to get one too, but then again, I have no artistic talent what so ever sooo....
DeleteBut at least the dogs don't grow out of it haha
I don't remember when I found you either. But I liked the idea of a rhyming cat, and I was impressed that you blogged something EVERY day for years and years. And then I was impressed with how many followers and responders you had. And all of the books that you wrote. You are an amazement in the blog-o-sphere; and I still have the wanted poster you designed on my page! Write on into the new year.
ReplyDeleteThings sure just piled up indeed. I got around the blogosphere. Good I can impress, I confess. haha the wanted poster was years ago, so sure must have been around a while. I see it there every time I visit you though.
DeleteI still have my wanted poster saved in my photos too :)
DeleteThe cat sure got those posters to stick
DeletePretending to be a rhyming cat?! I thought you really were a cat! To be honest, I don't really remember how I found your blog. But I liked what you wrote, and also the way you wrote it, so I kept coming back :)
ReplyDeleteGot you hooked and away you came. Works for us lol
DeleteWhat? A rhyming cat? Now how did you ever come up with that? Thanks you made me smile!
ReplyDeleteJQ Rose
Just popped out with a cat about
