Happy 2024!

Here we are once more. Where are we? Why we are wherever you are right now. And I guess that can't be we considering we are in different spots. I am still going to go with here we are once more though. Even though it makes little sense when you really think about it. Much like all the nonsense people are starting to spout now.

"New" that gets thrown around a lot this time of year. True? Yeah. It is true that there is now a new number in the date, but that is it. Nothing magic about it. Everything is the same as yesterday, unless you decided to move today, had a poop machine, got married, went grocery shopping and stocked the cupboard, or one of a million other things. But the whole magic people go on about is false. The only thing new is the number in the date and that you are older than you were yesterday. Aren't I magical? Pffffft.

So all the little resolutions that start will fail. At least 95% of them. Why? Because there is no magic. If you truly wanted to do whatever the resolution is then you would have done it yesterday, 4 weeks ago, in July, or last February. Why didn't you? Because those days aren't as new or as magical. Pffffft.

Stuff the magic. Stuff the new. It's not so tragic if you work on you. Whenever the day. Whenever the week. You can play or be up the creek. No new date or new year will save you from anything near. It won't restart. It won't make things clear. It won't stop a fart or shrink your rear. That only you can do on any old day. Now I'm done after having my say.

Happy Nothing New But The Date Day!

The IWSG has a new question too. I'll answer now before January third comes due. Why? Because I can. Don't have to wait for a magic date. Is that new and improved? Oh wait. You know what I think about that. Can't be both. Either one of the other. In case you forgot.

Do you follow back your readers on BookBub or do you only follow back other authors?

Hmmmm. To follow back anyone would mean I actually use that site still. Maybe I should do that some day. When I decide to and not some magic date. See? I can work anything in. Plus, since I released a book last month and another just the other week. It might be wise.

Oh yeah. I released two. That is a first in a while. And I didn't even need a magic day to make me do it. Woweee. Maybe it was Santa's magic. You think?

And there we are. My rant is done. Must have been the devil taking me over. Or maybe a butt sniffing rover. They can be moody I suppose. After they stick butt to nose. Or nose to butt. I'll leave that up to the mutt. Just as likely as any magic day changing anything. Actually the latter is probably way more likely. Especially if you just let one go.

Did all have a good Christmas? Hopefully so. Or at least a good weekend if you give Christmas the heave ho. A different kind of ho ho ho there I guess. Oh where the mind can go. Do you hate me yet for bursting any bubbles? Bah. I've done it for over a decade. What's one more time?

Got any plans for 2024? Do you make resolutions? Actually ever stuck to them? Make any goals? Cursing me out yet?

Hopefully 2024 has more ups than downs for all. And hey, you may meet those resolutions yet. Especially if you write them down and tack em to the wall. See? I can be a bit optimistic.

Happy 2024!

  1. Congratulations on the books!
I'm on BookBub but tend to forget to check it.
And you're correct. If someone wants to do something, last month was just as good as starting today.

  3. Hey, Pat! You're absolutely right. There is nothing magical about the start of a new year. I started looking at what I'm truly able to do in the time I have quite seriously about a month ago. I'm slowly making progress. It's hard for me to set boundaries for myself. I did have one of the best Christmases ever, so it's worth it. One day at a time. I hope that you have a great next run of days, starting whenever you want. I hope we get to cross paths this year. It was so fun meeting you last summer! All the best, my friend!

    1. Yeah. Best way to be. No one needs to go back to calculus anyway haha Take each day as it comes indeed. Great you had such a good Christmas. I'm sure we will cross paths if you get up this summer.

  4. Happy New Year! I wish all the old list of things I need to do would magically get done and go away so I could start the New Year with nothing on the list! Great to see you're still writing!

  5. Congrats on the 2 new ones.
No real plans for this year. If I wake up each day I'll call it a good day.
    Happy New Year.
